Comprehensive Eye Exam

What is a comprehensive eye exam?

A comprehensive eye exam is designed to assess your eye health. Furthermore, it can help to detect general health issues as well.

What can I expect during a comprehensive eye exam?

During your exam Dr. Hennen will check your vision, eye pressure, provide you with glasses prescription if needed, dilate your eyes, and perform a thorough eye exam using a special microscope. The exam will take about 1 hour.

Dr. Hennen assesses your risk for glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic eye disease, and other conditions, and she may perform the following tests as needed:

  • Ultrasound biomicroscopy: analysis of the front third of your eye

  • Spectral domain optical coherence tomography: high-speed retinal layer imaging

  • Fundus photography: images of your inner eye

  • Peripheral visual field testing

What other kinds of eye exams are available?

Other exams include evaluation of various chronic diseases and long-term medication use on the eyes, as well as emergency eye exam.
